On Saturday night I held a party to celebrate my 30th with Brisbane friends.
I had planned to say a few words, but as I started the roundup, unexpectedly, and much to my later delight, respect and admiration, Dad chided me for speaking first, and began to say a few words.
He spoke of 30 being the start of the best years of your life. He said it’s an age where you know who you are, who your friends are. When you have reached 30, he said “you no longer inhabit the world created for you by others, parents, friends, teachers. But through your passions, skills, relationships and self belief you have created your own world. Welcome to your world!”
In usual fashion his voice maintained a constant quiver as he addressed the crowd.
He was glowing in my eyes. And I’m forever grateful that he spoke.
Love you Dad.
