i have some news.
I have just resigned
and I feel light.
Suddenly the future is exciting and I am more confident.
The blue in my eyes is back. Those butterflies – be interesting to see how long they stir for.
For the next 6 weeks, I will still be the Design Manager of Taronga Conservation Society Australia, still call Taronga Zoo in Sydney, my office, still walk past 3 Giraffe on my way to a meeting without blinking, and still be surrounded by amazingly passionate people working for a cause that is truly infectious and never ending. But after Friday July 1, I’m out and greeting insecurity.
I’ll be turning 30 on July 15,
have two mortgages,
a gf I’m itching to marry, and
no job.
Almost.
I’ll again produce the Sydney Bicycle Film Festival (www.bicyclefilmfestival.com), and attempt to run a Brisbane version (of which Onitsuka Tiger is a major sponsor of both). I’ll be designing ambient, experiential events, and making, making, making content and telling positive stories online, working equally hard to deliver value for sponsors and participants within Australia’s bike culture.
I’ll also be pouring myself into this project: www.findthewind.com
Play with a friend on: www.projucer.com
And stock a garage full of fully sick boards for hire: http://vintageboardroom.tumblr.com/
There are going to be failures, but I’m looking forward to them. And if my amazingly inspiring friends and network is any proof, the world is a random place where anything can and will happen.
So I embrace risk. And I embrace myself.
In the meantime, for those who haven’t visited the Zoo lately, you really should. Spare 3 hours minimum. And for those who’d like to work with me, please get in touch. I’m well keen, and, free.
